PEOPLE MOVING AND HANDLING

This course is British School of Nursing approved, and is designed to teach care staff the latest and safest moving and handling techniques. It includes the use of moving belts, slide sheets, rotor stands, banana boards and hoists, as applicable to the client’s workplace.

All care workers involved in the moving and handling of clients.

·        Brief overview of the Health & Safety at Work Act.

·        Brief overview of Manual Handling Regulations.

·        Types and frequency and cost of manual handling injuries.

·        Anatomy of the back.

·        Physical principles of manual handling.

·        Risk assessment applied to manual handling.

·        Control measures in manual handling.

·        Practical demonstration of manual handling.

·        Practical demonstration of lifting equipment in the home.

Outcomes

 At the end of the course, each candidate will receive a certificate of satisfactory completion.
