CIEH Level 3 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS)
It is intended that by 2010 all existing trainers and teachers working in the publicly-funded sector will have to hold a recognised teaching qualification – either a Certificate or Degree in Education or one of the new qualifications.The CIEH has worked with LLUK, and gained their endorsement for a new qualification – the Level 3 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS).
Course Information
The Award comprises one unit, made up of five sections.
The five sections cover candidates’ understanding of:
- own role, responsibilities and boundaries of role in relation to teaching
- appropriate teaching and learning approaches in the specialist area
- session planning skills and demonstration of those skills
- how to deliver inclusive sessions which motivate learners
- the use of different assessment methods and the need for record keeping
Duration
Five days (30 hours) contact programme, 30 non-contact (self study) hours.Assessment
The award has a value of six credits and is assessed by candidates completing two assignments, one theory and one practical, both of which are broken down into smaller, prescriptive assignment tasks. Candidates are required to deliver a 30 minute micro teach to their group, and observe/assess others’ micro teaching sessions.
