Communication SkillsEffective Communication Skills is a one-day training course which will help you to express yourself more effectively, have more influence with your colleagues and appear more confident in front of others. This is a highly practical and interactive course. You will be working both individually and in small groups on a variety of vocal and practical exercises, interactive discussions and role plays throughout the day.

Subjects Covered

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

• Understand the benefits of improved communication skills
• Appreciate own personal behavioural style in business dealings with others
• Know the differences between assertive, aggressive and passive behaviours
• Understand and practice the 3 steps to assertive behaviour to encourage staff
• Say 'no' assertively without fear of guilt
• Understand the influencing techniques of broken record and self disclosure
• Appreciate the importance of effective feedback
• Name the two different types of feedback
• Understand the dos and don'ts of effective feedback
• Apply the E.E.C. (Example, Effect, Change) model for giving feedback on staff and peer performance
• Demonstrate enhanced listening skills
• Apply effective questioning techniques using the T.E.D. (Tell, Explain, Describe) model
